She told me to remove my ring!!!!! ”

Let’s get right into the topic, at the age of 15 I decided to honor God with my mind, body and soul. I made a vow to God that, I will not have sex until I get married. It’s been a struggle but God has got me through. It’s safe to say at the age of 24, I continue to honor God with that same vow. On behalf of my commitment to God, I received a purity ring (which is a band with diamonds on it). It’s also engraved with a scripture Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” It actually resembles a wedding band. I wear my purity ring on my left hand, the hand your wedding ring should go on. When God sends you your husband and when you become one which is written in Mark 10:8 “and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one,”. For now, I am single so I am aligning my mind and body with the word of Christ.
One thing about being a Christian is that everyone is not in the same level and understanding that you are in. And I defiantly get that so, I am always open to teach and also to receive. I recently became friends with this wonderful young lady and she is a Christian. However, she did notice my ring and I told her that it’s my purity ring. This young lady is 5 years older than me and she married with kids. When the woman noticed the ring on my finger , at first she thought I was married. However, I told her about my vow I made to God. Since she was a Christian you would have thought she would understand. No Linda, she told me to “take off my ring”. If I didn’t stand for anything and if I didn’t believe the meaning behind the vow. I would have probably taken it off. It actually became an argument; a bit more was said but I’m going to get down to the message.
Why would I take off a ring just because you have an opinion? What made this situation a little awkward was the fact that she was a Christian woman and not a child. You should be encouraging me to live a righteous life after Christ. It’s a verse in the bible that in Titus 2:4 “These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children.” As a Christian woman you should be encouraging me and preparing me for my future husband. The point of this blog is to encourage anyone, that living a life after Christ is not in vain. People are going to come and challenge you on what you believe and stand for, but hold on for the reason that your reward is coming.
Truth is, you don’t need a purity ring to confess that you are a virgin. I know so many wonderful women who are virgin, but doesn’t wear a purity ring. And yet they are strong Queens in the Lord. I wear my purity ring because it was given to me at a young age. Because of this long time period of wearing the ring, if I take it out I feel naked. I feel as if I am missing something. God is not a God who will judge you on your past mistakes here’s proof in Micah 7:9, “Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!”. See, it is written in the Bible that God doesn’t care about your past. God wants you to start a new beginning in Him! I’m ending with this quote, “If you don’t stand for something, You’ll fall for anything”.

Love,
M.A.E

  1. Sometimes people can have their own opinions, but not everybody is walking the same path. Yes we are Christians and Our goal is to be closer to Jesus Christ that’s the only thing that’s the same, To have a relationship with Christ. Walk your path that God has for you. And be strong for the Lord like you said if you don’t stand for anything you will fall for everything.
